Rublev – Baghdatis / Australian Open – After the first day of the Australian Open, there were no sensational surprises. All major favorites continued and the unexpected results include the defeats of K. Anderson, L. Pouille and J. Isner. In the second round, Cypriot M. Baghdatis and the Russian A. Rublev meet.

A. Rublev
It is interesting that Rublev achieved his best career ranking this season, five days ago, when he won the Doha finals but was then beaten by G. Monfils. Of course, this progress came in the ATP table thanks to very good games last season in which he won his first career title after triumphing over P. Lorenzi in the final of the tournament in Umag. At the end of last year he lost another final match at the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan against H. Chung.
As part of the first round of the Australian Open Rublev had a difficult task, as he met the experienced and persistent D. Ferrer. As expected, the match was very uncertain and Rublev made it to triumph in less than four hours and five sets. M. Baghdatis
Baghdatis currently occupies the 123rd place in the ATP rankings, while he had his best ranking in late 2006, when he was the world ranking player.
