Asian Handicap - Explanation

Asian Handicap – Explanation

Basically the Asian Handicap consists of the following:

Imagine a Sporting – Benfica and the bookmaker gives you the possibility to bet on Benfica (+0.5 Asian Handicap).

What this means is that Benfica starts with a half goal ahead if you bet on Benfica and if the result is 0-0, 1-1 or any other tie you win the bet. If Benfica wins you also win the bet. You only lose if Benfica lose.

Then there is Draw no Bet which is also called Asian Handicap (0).

For example: Sporting – Benfica (0 AH). If you bet on Benfica you win if they win the game, you recover your money in the event of a tie and lose your bet if Sporting wins.

Finally you have the> Asian Handicaps that are divided in two. For example, -0.25AH or -0.75AH.

Example> Asian Handicap: Sporting (-0.25AH) – Benfica. If you bet on Sporting half of your money is bet on Sporting (0 AH) and half of your money on Sporting (-0.5 AH). Basically if you bet 50 € you have

25 € Sporting (0 AH)
25 € Sporting (-0.5AH)

If Sporting wins the game you win 2 bets. If the game ends in a draw, you lose the -0.5AH bet and recover the other’s money. If Benfica wins you lose 2.
